Eutoea heteroneurata

Diagnosis.
The male has modified venation as described in the generic account. The female resembles Calletaera jotaria, but lacks a strong black discal crescent on the forewing.

Taxonomic notes. Female material from the Moluccas and New Guinea is yellower in ground colour than that from the Oriental Region, with a stronger double dark brown spot at the angle of the forewing postmedial: this is referable to ssp. straminea Warren. A male from Seram has the aedeagus cornuti longer, more slender, but fewer. The holotype male of ssp. bismarckensis lacks cornuti but has the vesica extensively convoluted and scobinate.

Geographical range. Indo-Australian tropics to Bismarck Is.

Habitat preference. The species is infrequent in lowland and lower montane forest. During the Mulu survey it was commonest in the lower montane forest on the limestone Gunung Api.
