Ilema preangerensis

Diagnosis.
Males could be confused with Lymantria capnodes (see Lymantria Capnodes Collenette), but are a distinctly greener brown on the forewings, paler in a patch just distal to the discal lunule. The antennae are relatively larger. The female is illustrated by Schintlmeister (1994: plate 3: 21). It has a distinct, irregular whitish submarginal and a paler medial zone on an otherwise dark brown forewing.

Geographical range. Java, Sumatra, Borneo; Bhutan (ssp. melanochlora).

Habitat preference. This is a montane species, recorded from G. Kinabalu (1050-1660m), G. Mulu (1000m) and G. Api (1200-1500m).

Biology. A Javan female in BMNH is labelled as reared from Dendrobium (Orchidaceae).
