Penicillaria plusioides

Diagnosis.
The angular pattern of the forewing is strikingly invested with orange or yellow, and there are white triangles medially and submedially on the costa.

Taxonomic note. This species exhibits characters typical of Penicillaria and is therefore transferred to this genus with the consequent synonymy of the generic name Eleale Walker and its replacement Tamseale Nye as indicated in the generic introduction.

Geographical range. The species extends through the Indo-Australian tropics to as far east as the Bismarck Is.

Habitat preference. Recent surveys have only produced two specimens, both from upper montane forest, on Bukit Retak in Brunei (1618m) and on G. Kinabalu (1930m).
