Garaeus altapicata Holloway
Garaeus altapicata Holloway, 1976: 78.

Garaeus altapicata (paratype)

See the previous species. This is more variable, specimens with pale fawn or ochreous brown ground being noted as well as the more common vinous or reddish brown forms. Genitalia differences are only minor (see Holloway (1976)).

Taxonomic notes. This appears to be a duplex of G. apicata, replacing it in a higher altitude zone. G. apicata was classified in the upper montane element and G. altapicata in the Radio Sabah element of the analysis by Holloway (1970).

Geographical range. Borneo.

Habitat preference. The species was taken in numbers at 2600m (Radio Sabah) on G. Kinabalu, with one specimen recorded at 2110m.
