Diagnosis. The forewing medial zone is densely, darkly fasciated, the postmedial more strongly flexed at one third from the costa than the antemedial, a characteristic shape, often highlighted by paler colour in the parts of the wing outside it except for a subapical triangle on the costa. The male hindwing is rather narrow, folded, acute, with a groove of dark scales just dorsal to the marginal angle.

Geographical range. New Guinea, S. Moluccas; Borneo (ssp. animata).

Habitat preference. The species ranges from 1560m to 1930m on G. Kinabalu, and has been taken singly on G. Mulu (1780m) and Bukit Retak (1365m).
