Diagnosis.
This species and the next differs from calescens in having both wings orange and lacking a dark brown mark distal to the forewing postmedial. See also the diagnosis of Carbia brunnefacta sp. n.

Taxonomic notes. Paratypes in the original description are of a closely related, but distinct species, described below.

Geographical range. Borneo.

Habitat preference. Recently collected material and the holotype are from 1600-1930m on G. Kinabalu and from 1780m on G. Mulu.
