Agathia largita sp. n.

Agathia hilarata latilimes ab. largita Prout, 1932, Gross-Schmett. Erde 12: 70.

Agathia largita (holotype)

17-18mm. There is a general resemblance to A. quinaria latilimes but the brown marginal zones are broader, grading paler towards the margin. The medial fascia dividing the green area of the forewing is more oblique such that the distal portion of green is triangular rather than approximately rectangular. The male genitalia indicate largita is distinct from quinaria and hilarata. The valve costa terminates in a short, curved spine, and there is a diagnostic sinuous spinose fold between it and the saccular angle.

Holotype NORD BORNEO: Mont Kina Balu, 5.8.1903 (John Waterstradt). Holotype of ab. largita Prout.

Paratypes: 1 as holotype, paratype of largita Prout, BM geometrid slide 16787;  l BRUNEI, Temburong, L.P. 283, 350m. 15.x.1978 (T. W. Harman).

Geographical range. Borneo, Sumatra.

Habitat preference. A rare lowland species, largita has only been taken once in recent surveys, at 350m in the hill dipterocarp forest of Ulu Temburong, Brunei.
