Trichaeta hosei Rothschild, 1910, Novit. zool., 17:
Trichaeta hosei Rothschild; Seitz, 1912-1913: 67.
Diagnosis. This is the largest species in the genus. It could be confused with some
forms of chloroleuca but, apart from its size, the basal patch of the
forewing is almost round, and there is a somewhat smaller round spot on the
hindwing. The female from G. Kinabalu has these two spots larger, with an
additional small elongate one distally in the space posterior to vein CuA2.
Geographical range. Borneo.
Habitat preference. The species is montane. The holotype is from G. Mulu
and there is a female from G. Kinabalu in the BMNH. During the Mulu survey the
species illustrated was taken at light at 900m (lower montane forest) on the
limestone G. Api.
