Lymantria hollowayi Schintlmeister

Lymantria hollowayi Schintlmeister, 1994: 123.

Lymantria ganaroides Strand, sensu Holloway, 1976: 50.

Lymantria hollowayi

Diagnosis.
This and the next species are very similar, and identity should be confirmed by dissection. The male of hollowayi is slightly larger with a more rounded forewing apex and a stronger submarginal band to the hindwing. The latter character also distinguishes the female (illustrated by Schintlmeister (1994)); see singapura above where the female is also similar. In the male genitalia the valve is broader apically, with a less hooked subsidiary spur. The saccus and aedeagus are longer.

Taxonomic note. Both species are similar to ganaroides Strand, described from New Guinea. The status of this taxon requires further investigation.

Geographical range. Sumatra, Borneo.

Habitat preference. This is a montane species, found relatively frequently from 900mto 1790m.
