Arctornis pseudungula sp. n


Arctornis pseudungula (holotype)


20-22mm. The facies is as in ungula. The male genitalia have the uncus as in ungula but the harpe is only strongly curved near its base, straighter (or slightly sinuous) over the distal two-thirds. The apical section is less evenly tapered, narrowing sharply and asymmetrically at the very apex.

Holotype . SARAWAK: Gunung Mulu Nat. Park, R.G.S. Exped. 1977-8 (J.D. Holloway et al.) Site 15, February, Camp 2.5, Mulu, 1000m, 413461, lower montane forest, BM lymantriid slide 1572.

Paratypes: 1 (slide 2730) as holotype but site 14; 1(slide 2731) general data as holotype but Site 13, Camp 2, Mulu, 500m, 401464, mixed dipt. for.; 1(slide 2153) BRUNEI: LP 298, Temburong, 300m, 15.ii.1982 (T.W. Harman); 1 (slide 2126) BRUNEI: 300m, Ulu Temburong, rainforest, 30.6.1979 (Lt. Col. M.G. Allen); 1 (slide 2729) BRUNEI: 30-60m, Labi, lowland forest and secondary veg., 15.10.78 (Lt. Col. M.G. Allen).

Geographical range. Borneo.

Habitat preference. The material is from lowland dipterocarp forest and lower montane forest.
