Arctornis rutila

 
Diagnosis.
The wings are pale yellow with distinctive dark fringes and a slight angle to the forewing margin. Between this angle and the apex there is a broader brown patch. The forewing venation has a long areole.

Taxonomic note. A related species, A. primula Swinhoe comb. n., occurs in Sangihe and Sulawesi.

Geographical range. Thailand, Burma, ?India, Sundaland, Philippines.

Habitat preference. This is a frequent species of lowland forest, including heath and swamp forest, and extends up to the lower montane zone at 1000m.

Biology. The larva has been reared from Diospyros (Ebenaceae) in Borneo (unpublished IIE records).
