Cosmophila guttanivis Walker comb. n.
Gonitis guttanivis Walker, [1858] 1857, List Specimens lepid. Insects Colln Br. Mus., 13: 1003.

Cosmophila guttanivis

Diagnosis
. The species resembles those in Rusicada to some extent in its brick-red forewing colour, but the forewing costa is not angled, and the posterior of the reniform and all the orbicular are conspicuously and diagnostically white.

Taxonomic note. The features of the male and female genitalia are very similar to those of scitipennis, despite the difference in facies, so guttanivis is also combined with Cosmophila.

Geographical range. Indian Subregion, Thailand, Sundaland.

Habitat preference. The species has not been taken in recent surveys, but older material has been seen from the lowlands of Kalimantan inland from Pontianak.

Biology. The adult is known as a fruit piercer in Thailand (Bänziger, 1982; Kuroko & Lewvanich, 1993).
