Batracharta obliqua

. The generally curved and strongly oblique cream and dark brown patterning on the forewing is unmistakable.

Taxonomic note. Poole (1989) treated variegata as a good species, despite it having been placed as a synonym of obliqua by Hampson (1894, Fauna Br. India, Moths, 2: 444).

Geographical range. Borneo, Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, Thailand (VK), Philippines, Sulawesi; S. India (variegata).

Habitat preference. All specimens seen have been taken at altitudes at or below 300m, often in rainforest, but also in coastal areas.
