Stictoptera esmeralda

Stictoptera esmeralda

Diagnosis.
The mottled, reticulate, grey-green forewings distinguish this species from all congeners except S. columba. On the forewing the distal margin of the darker basal zone is more or less straight in esmeralda but convex in columba; the dark dots on the submarginal near the tornus are in a much more entire, more sinuous line. There is slight sexual dimorphism as illustrated, the female being paler, more contrasty.

Geographical range. Borneo, Sumatra.

Habitat preference. The species was taken from 1500-2600m on G. Kinabalu, most commonly from 2000m upwards. A single female has been taken at 1700m on Bukit Pagon, Brunei.
