Fascellina castanea

Diagnosis.
See Fascellina albicordis Prout.

Taxonomic notes. All the above taxa are brought into synonymy through the sharing of similar facies, similar development of the furca arms of the male genitalia, and a particular autapomorphy: development of the apex of the gnathus into a scobinate spoon-like structure.

Geographical range. N.E. Himalaya to Sundaland, Mindanao.

Habitat preference. During the Mulu survey the species was only taken in alluvial forest. Records from Brunei are from similar low lying areas at Labi and Daerah Belait. Specimens have also been taken at 100m and 300m on G. Santubong, Sarawak.

Biology. The species has been reared from Cinnamomum (Lauraceae) in the Andamans (unpublished IIE records).
