Perixera decretaria Walker comb. n.

Anisodes decretaria, Walker, 1861, List. Specimens lepid. Insects Colln Br. Mus., 22: 650.

Ephyra privata Walker, 1861, List Specimens lepid. Insects Colln Br. Mus., 22: 668 syn. n.

Perixera decretaria

Diagnosis. In facies this species is very similar to decretarioides possibly slightly less heavily fasciated. The only really reliable distinction is in the male genitalia: the uncus is not rugose; the valves are more elongate, the costal process much narrower, less hooked distally; the aedeagus is less sclerotised and spoonlike apically.

Taxonomic notes. Prout (1938, Gross-Schmett. Erde, 12:174) stated of the type of privata that "this taxon is one of Walker's (unfortunately numerous) worn types and although I have examined it repeatedly I am not yet confident about it". In fact the specimen is not nearly as bad as he implied and can be associated with material taken in recent surveys and with decretaria.

Geographical range. Borneo, Peninsular Malaysia.

Habitat preference. Most material is from lowland and hill dipterocarp forest, though the holotype is from dry heath forest. Two females were taken in stunted hill forest at 900m on Bukit Monkobo and one from a Eucalyptus deglupta plantation at Brumas in Sabah.

Biology. Yunus & Ho (1980) recorded Coffea (Rubiaceae) as a host-plant.
