Cossus telisai sp. n.

Cossus telisai (holotype)

17mm. This species is a smaller, paler and less heavily marked version of the previous one, the distal striae of the forewing being of slightly different configurations. The two are probably sister-species or perhaps ecological races of the same species.

The male genitalia are much as in the previous species but the valve is slightly constricted subapically and the basal spine is slightly more slender and more evenly tapered.

Holotype  BRUNEI: 15m, Telisai, sandy heath forest and Gymnostoma, 8.1.1980 (R. Fairclough) BM cossid slide 153.

Geographical range. Borneo.

Habitat preference. The only specimen is from lowland heath forest dominated by Gymnostoma (Casuarinaceae).
