Warren comb. n.
Warren, 1912, Novit. zool., 19: 43.
Carea mediogrisea Warren; Holloway, 1976: 27.
Diagnosis. The forewing is a dark reddish brown, somewhat as in diluta,
but distinctively marked with pale grey: a patch bisecting the apical angle; a
row of dots along the distal margin; a variable extent in the medial zone from a
narrow band to a large circle (a few specimens are unmarked in this area, and
these may have the apical mark weak also). The antemedial and postmedial fasciae
are only narrowly separated, but may be totally obscured by the grey area.
The species has a similar altitude range and frequency to ferriviridis.
