Lophoptera obscurapex sp. n.

Lophoptera obscurapex

11-12mm. The species is smaller than punctapex (average 15mm) with the forewings dark vinous brown rather than indigo; the subapical spot is not yellow, merely obscurely paler than the ground; there is a paler zone over the basal part of the wing of sinuous form as in the grey cloud of the punctapex rare form, which has a small darker spot in its posterior excavation; the reniform is more excavate distally than in punctapex, and the submarginal is not whitish but pale vinous brown, following a zig-zag course anterior to the subapical patch rather than being more or less straight. The male genitalia are as in punctapex.
