Diagnosis.
This species has the forewing ground a paler (almost fawn) brown than in other species, with an indistinct but diagnostic pale crenulate band from the centre of the margin to the centre of the costa, concave towards the apex. A form has a broad, central longitudinal black zone to the forewing (typical longiplaga, which is rarer).

Geographical range. N.E. Himalaya, Sundaland, and possibly east to New Guinea.

Habitat preference. The species ranges from the lowlands to 2600m. It is commoner at higher altitudes but is also a species frequently encountered in the lowlands.
