waterstradti sp. n.
Petelia capitata Walker sensu Holloway, 1976: 74.
Petelia metaspila Walker sensu Holloway, 1976: 74.
11-17mm. This is a larger, more maroon red species than the previous,
variable in the extent of white markings on the wings, from specimens with only
a submarginal row of flecks on the forewing via those with a forewing marginal
cloud to those with a white discal circle on the hindwing and marginal clouds
centrally on both forewing and hindwing. The male genitalia are similar to those
of stueningi and diagnosed in the description of that species. The female
genitalia have the spined ridges of the ductus reduced to one or two; the
lamella vaginalis is broader.
