Nigriblephara cheyi sp. n.


Nigriblephara cheyi (holotype, in FRC, Sepilok)


10mm. Externally this species resembles radula but is perhaps slightly browner in tone. The male genitalia have the tegumen as radula. The costa is free of setose lobes but there is a small spined lobe subcostally adjacent to the transverse bar of sclerotisation . The saccular process is shorter, tapering, less closely associated with the valve margin. The juxta is strikingly bifid.

Holotype . SABAH: Brumas, Pinus caribaea, 13.vi.1991, light trap, (Chey Vun Khen). In Forest Research Centre Collection, Sepilok, Sabah.

Geographical range. Borneo.

Habitat preference. The only specimen is from a lowland softwood plantation.

Nigriblephara cheyi Holloway also occurs in Peninsular Malaysia (FRIM colln)
