Pasiphila subpalpata
(x 1.33)

Diagnosis. This is one of the smaller Bornean species. The pale band distal to the forewing postmedial is clearly defined, with a definite pale patch at the centre of the margin opposite the central angle of the band. The darker medial zone is very much broader than in palpata, the labial palps are shorter, dark tipped, acute apically, rather than moderate and more or less pale throughout.

Taxonomic notes. P. fractiscripta Prout stat. & comb. n. (Luzon), originally described as a subspecies of subpalpata, has distinct male genitalia and octavals.

Geographical range. Peninsular Malaysia, Borneo.

Habitat preference. The species is uncommon, recorded from 1200m to 1930m on G. Kinabalu and singly at 1790m on G. Mulu.
